ExDom is a unique database for integrated analysis of the exon-intron structure of protein domains in seven eukaryotes (Homo sapiens, Mus musculus, Bos taurus, Rattus norvegicus, Danio rerio, Gallus gallus and Arabidopsis thaliana). ExDom allows extensive analysis of domain architecture of proteins as correlated to the exon-intron architecture of its coding genes and is a powerful tool for exploring key questions concerning the function, origin and evolution of genes and proteins.

Features:

One-to-one mapping of 96680 Pfam domains to their corresponding exon-intron structures in the 40,390 RefSeq genes.
Graphical display tool called the ‘ExDom Plot’ for simultaneous viewing of domains structure and gene structure details
Analyze domain architecture and domain-specific exon-intron structure variations of common domains across multiple proteins.
Investigate the inter-genomic variations in exon-intron and domain structures among homologous proteins.
Analyze sequence variations among common domains found in different proteins using the Sequence Alignment Viewer.
Explore the role of alternative splicing in producing variations in the domain architectures in protein isoforms
Analyze the implications of exon-intron structure variations on the tertiary structure of domains.
Analyze the correlation of exon ends to domain ends and investigate the role of exon shuffling in domain evolution.
